"Maybe. But it's not like I remember it. Or I did it, really." He's coaxing, trying to convince Leo it's okay, pressing a kiss against his palm and then his wrist.
"Guess so." He's relaxing right away, the tension in his hand slackening as he strokes softly down the side of Nate's jaw. "You did scare me shitless for like, five seconds when you actually did see her."
"I did?" He looks a little confused, considering, leaning into the touch. "I wasn't -- rethinking or anything. Just felt weird having it happen like that."
"Dunno. Just the way you looked at the floor, I guess." Leo squints thoughtfully up at the ceiling, and then adds, as if it makes sense: "Oh, I prolly freaked out cos you're bi."
"Uh. I mean, if I wasn't, there'd be no reason to worry, sure." He still just sounds confused, but he doesn't seem to mind too much, leaning in to kiss at Leo's jaw.
"Oh, no, um, I mean- in my ho phase," Leo says, tilting his head to the side to make it easier, and reaching to gently knead the back of Nate's neck at the same time. "I had this like - superpower of attracting dudes exploring their sexuality for the first time. Sooo much 'I'm not gay, I'm really into girls, blah blah blah.' Made it easier for me 'cos they never called after, but I think I forgot actually adjusted people aren't like that."
"Ohh. God, that would suck, though." He kisses along the line of Leo's jaw, nips lightly at the shell of his ear, nuzzling him lightly. "Nah, no experimenting here."
"Just a kind of tiny voice saying you'd prefer it if I was a girl? I just don't think I've ever realized I was hearing it, though. Silly." But he's turning his face into that affection, trying to catch him for a sweet and slow kiss.
He leans into the kiss, melting into that sweetness, sweeping a hand over Leo's side. "I like you how you are, for the record," he murmurs after, barely pulling away, a little smile on his lips. "You've got nothing to worry about."
"Yeah, I know," Leo says quietly, his face full of earnest affection. "You died for me. I gave you a million chances to leave that campsite, and you - I don't think you even looked tempted."
"Yeah. Part of me knew that." He can't keep his hands off Nate; nothing even titillating now, just gently stroking his sides. "Just had to make sure it wasn't outta, I dunno. Guilt or something."
"Yeah. I guess I get that." He doesn't have any complaints about the constant contact, relaxed under the touch despite the discussion, eyes closing as he appreciates it. "Still would've hated it if you just left, though."
"I wanted to," he confesses, tone apologetic. "I thought about it. But, um - I figured - you're an adult, and you could make your own choices, and it would have probably fucked my chances with you if breaking the watch fixed it."
"I think..." He hums, thoughtful, fingers stroking over Leo's chest absently. "I think I woulda understood eventually. But I'd've been pissed at you for a while. I wanted to be there so I could -- I dunno. Save you. Help."
"Baby," Leo echoes with a pleased while, like he hadn't been stressed and calling Nate that without fully realizing it while they were meeting with Kat. "God, cute and hot at the same time, how is it possible?"
Leo doesn't mean to snort then, but it sort of just happens, and he leans in to softly kiss the side of Nate's neck. "I'm thirsty, and I want something chocolate," he murmurs. "We're gonna have to get up."
He shifts to try to gently slide Nate down onto the couch next to him. "I'll get you something cold to drink baby, just watch tv for a minute." Is he kind of excited at getting to be the one to take care of Nate for once? Maybe.
"You sure you don't want me to come?" He's not arguing, just checking. The couch is comfortable, and he'll settle himself into the spot while waiting for his answer, watching Leo.
"Yes," he tells him with a mock- exasperated laugh, pushing at Nate's shoulder. "Love you. Be back." And he will a few minutes later, carrying two icy glasses of water and a small handful of snack cakes. "Kind of a crappy dinner, but I don't really wanna let you cook right now," he says, dropping back down lightly beside him.
